in this issue of Aequitas dedicated to mental health, we wish to bring together, even to incorporate the universe of mental health disorders into that of disability. These two universes are two often kept apart by various approaches and theories. However, multiple overlaps exist between them. Let’s think for instance of the issues linked to personal and environmental determinants in relation to social participation, to citizenship, the issue of identity in both cases, that of recovery, etc. Bringing them together allows to consider the recovery approach as a corollary to the HDM-DCP model, because both approaches bring forward taking into account environmental, social, cultural, institutional and individual barriers to understand the construction of persons’ identity, whatever the functional limitations.
